Report Dates:
First reported February 19, 2001. Last updated March 24, 2001. Additions, comments, or questions should be directed to Peter O'Mara at omara@fidalgo.net.
Reported By:
1. O'Mara, P. Summary of February 19 and March 5, 2001 observations.
Features:
This small lake within the Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL) has easy perimeter trails that provide
access to wetlands, balds, and rocky areas within lowland forests.
Directions:
ACFL maps that include directions to the trailhead are available at the Anacortes visitors' center on Commercial Avenue. Plants and lichens listed in this report were observed along trails 20, 205, 22, 21 and 204 around the perimeter of Whistle Lake and past the north edge of Toot Swamp.
Notes:
Unless otherwise noted, scientific names are from the latest PLANTS database, Version 3.0 (USDA, 1999). Common names are those used regionally (see Goward 1994 and 1999, and McCune, 1997 for lichen common names). Each plant's wetland status was determined by consulting USFWS, 1996, Cooke, 1997, and Weinmann, 1999. Introduced plants are identified in Weinmann, 1999 and in the PLANTS database. Weed status is from the 1999-2000 Washington State Noxious Weed List. The following symbols and acronyms are used in this report:
=
|
Alternate or reported scientific names, if different from those in the PLANTS database.
