Information Technology Leadership Program

What is the Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP)?
The ITLP is an entry level rotational program for recent, high potential college graduates interested in learning about different aspects of United Technologies' businesses from an IT perspective.  This enhanced employee development program in UTC's IT Group involves three nine-month rotations across IT functions in different business units over a twenty-seven month period.  The program combines on-the-job and facilitated training opportunities.

The objective of the ITLP program is to provide 5 years of IT experience in a 2-year period.  As such, each participant will rotate through 3 project related assignments.  Major projects may include SAP/ERP implementations, web design, business analysis, networking, or infrastructure management.

The program officially begins in June 2006 with a brief orientation phase.  Associates move to their first rotation at one of UTC's 6 business units and are assigned to projects that are critical to business success.  Your work assignments will also be supplemented with formal training on technology and leadership.

Who is Eligible for the ITLP?
UTC looks for recent graduates with a baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, Engineering, or a Business major with a demonstrated talent/knowledge in technology. Candidates should be self-starters who have demonstrated leadership ability and a minimum GPA of 3.2.

Where do ITLP Associates work?
Associates will be based in central Connecticut and have the opportunity to work at Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky, UTC Corporate, and UTC Power.

What happens after I graduate from the program?
After participating in the ITLP program, Associates will have gained valuable skills and experience in the IT field.  During their third rotation, Associates work with the manager of IT Leadership Development to locate a permanent assignment that best matches the Associates' interest and skills within the UTC family.
