36.6  Trichophorum Pers. (1805), nom. conserv., Syn. Pl. 1: 69.

Comments:

(1) A recent authoritative survey, by Goetghebeur in Kubitzki (1998), accepts Trichophorum and explicitly rejects Baeothryon as this latter name, according to Salmenkallio & Kukkonen (1989), is synonymous with Eleocharis.

Eriophorella Holub is included in genus synonymy, based on the principle that names from recent (important) revisions might be included in addition to those from our standard sources. To separate T. alpinum in its own genus is, however, untenable as it is the type species of Trichophorum!

The separation of T. cespitosum in its own genus   Kreczetoviczia (see Tzvelev 1999)   is not followed here. (Elven)
