J. EDWARD BLOUNT

SOUTH CAROLINA YOUTH CAMP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

I. Overview of the SOUTH CAROLINA YOUTH CAMP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The J. Edward Blount South Carolina Youth Camp Scholarship Program (YCSP), jointly sponsored by J. Edward Blount, South Carolina Youth Ministries and other contributions gives financial assistance to outstanding South Carolina Assemblies of God youth to attend summer camps sponsored by the South Carolina Assemblies of God. The YCSP is open to junior high and high school students attending Assemblies of God churches.
Scholarship recipients are selected by the YCSP Committee on the basis of participation in the local church, district events, missions and/or outreach activities, Speed the Light contributions, Christian service and Christian character. In order to receive the camp scholarship, scholarship recipients must attend the South Carolina Youth Ministries of the Assemblies of God summer camp the summer immediately following their award. The scholarship is granted in the same year it is awarded.
The YCSP is administered by the YCSP Committee, which is comprised of the District Youth Director of the South Carolina, and three other members of the SCYM Leadership team.
Recipients are awarded scholarships to a week of summer camp (if scholarship is properly funded):

Special Merit Scholarships in amounts to be determined (as funds are available)

III. Funding the YCSP
A. A grant has been given to the district youth department by J. Edward Blount as a nest egg for a significant growing scholarship fund. The interest on this principle will be used for summer camp scholarships. The district youth department will establish the amount of the scholarship for district winners.
B. The District Youth Department will also provide a portion of the scholarships. Other sources of funding and individual donations are encouraged for endowing the YCSP.
C. The District Youth Director (and other district officers, when appropriate) shall promote the opportunity for individuals as well as churches and youth/children ministries to contribute one time gifts or occasional support to the YCSP. Memorial gifts would bring great comfort and joy to donors assured that choice students will be exposed to the life changing full Gospel message and experience each year until Jesus comes.
