Migrants' Integrating Kit - Basic Language for Dealing with Financial Matters (INTEGRA)

In Greece each Bank has it’s own policy concerning the immigrants. Some of them are trying to attract clients from this target group and some have no interest at all.


In the first group of Banks belong mainly the big Greek banks with many branches all over Greece and in several EU and Balkan countries.
We have contacted the 3 bigger Greek Banks and we have collected the following information for each one of them.


  1. THE NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE

Immigrants form a group that constitutes an important part of the Greek society and economy. It is therefore normal for local banks to show interest in approaching this group. Since big part of bank deposits belong nowadays to immigrants, and within the context of its social policy, the bank has adopted measures in order to facilitate the communication with this target group.


  1. EUROBANK

EUROBANK aims the target group of immigrants but for the moment they have produced and printed informative material only in English. In the near future they are planning to print informative material in Albanian, Bulgarian, Romanian and Polish. Since a big number of people with origin the above countries are living in Greece legally.




  1. PIRAEUS

This is the third bigger Bank in Greece, but is the first Bank which provides very friendly services to the immigrants.


They have produced informative material in several languages. This material is out of stock for the moment but they are redesign and adapt it to the new rules of the government. As they informed me they are planning to print the new material in the next few months.

We are planning to have meetings with the people responsible for the immigrants policy in the three major banks in Greece to inform them about the material we are going to produce for the project and discuss with them the possibility to disseminate the material through them.

We are planning to inform several immigrants organisations about the products of the project firstly by e-mail and later by personal contacts.
