Objective:

  1. Generate a transgenic plant from Keora and Olive tree for enhanced production of alternative edible oil similar to olive oil

  2. Transfer oil producing gene from Olea europaea to Sonneratia apetala

  3. Reduce the seed and increase the fruit size of Sonneratia apatela by genetic manipulation to maximize oil contains

  4. Genetically manipulate the flower to maximize the honey contents

  5. To create a better variety to grow commercially in the mangrove forest and coastal areas in Bangladesh

  6. The transgenic plants will serve as a natural shield to protect Bangladesh from natural disaster and environmental changes

Plans:

  1. Unveil genomic sequence of Sonneratia apetala and Olea europaea

  2. Determine the oil producing gene of Olea europaea

  3. Transfer oil producing gene from Olea europaea to Sonneratia apetala

  4. Create Transgenic plant

  5. Grow Transgenic plant (KEOLIE)

  6. Analyze the fruits
