Main purpose of the job:

This year long industry placement scheme is developed to provide an in depth understanding of each functional area (outlined below) within Sony Music. The placement will also provide an overall insight into the way in which a record label and TV Entertainment platforms work on a day to day basis and how they work collaboratively together.

The Intern will be responsible for administration and coordination within the function they are placed. They will establish themselves as a point of contact for any queries relating to these areas by forging strong relationships across the business and with external contacts.

They will need to accurately and efficiently manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities.

The 12 month placement is also paired with a robust learning and development program which will provide further up skilling and insight into the Music Industry. Importantly, the Interns will need to be passionate and immersed in popular culture with a particular focus on music and TV entertainment.

Syco Entertainment – the TV powerhouse behind the international X Factor and Got Talent TV formats.

Key Objectives / Responsibilities:

  • To provide administrative support to the department, ensuring smooth running of the office – including answering general enquiries, managing correspondence (including archiving and storage), , ordering stationery, ticket ordering etc.

  • Be an ‘ambassador’ for the department, meeting and greeting visitors, and actively participating in all department and Company meetings. Work closely with internal teams and other areas of the business.

  • Arranging meetings (both internal and external), logistics for the meeting and preparing necessary documentation to facilitate. Taking minutes and isolating action points in department meetings.

  • Creating Purchase Orders for relevant departmental invoices, ensuring these are assigned to the correct project and accounted for in the relevant budget.

  • Ordering bikes/couriers.

  • Booking travel arrangements and hotels for team where required.

  • Keep abreast of market developments, new technologies, market conditions in order to suggest concepts and ideas. Taking a proactive role could include:

  • Researching – keeping current with what’s going on in the world of popular global music and TV entertainment through own passion and excellent research. Constantly keeping connected to trends in online and social networking, entertainment media, newspapers and magazines, observing competitors and being absorbed in popular music, TV and radio

  • Brainstorming – to proactively work with your peers and colleagues to generate new and progressive sparks for music and TV concepts

  • Expanding Ideas – creating dialogue to engage others in the ideas generation process and to supportively listen and build on the ideas of others in the team to help enhance their concepts and vice versa, so that the key ideas can be taken forward and tested as concepts.
