Design Division Rules
1. Entries are open to members and affiliates of NGC. 2. An Exhibitors’ Meeting will be held at the Topsfield Fairgrounds in the Flower Barn, on Thursday, September 6, at 10 am.
3. First Entry date is Thursday, September 27, 3-5 PM. Exhibits must be removed Monday, October 1, at 9:30 PM. The second entry day is Tuesday, October 2, 7-9 AM. Exhibits must be removed Thursday, October 4, at 9:30 PM. The third entry day is Friday, October 5, 7-9 AM. Exhibits must be removed Tuesday, October 9, 9 AM- 2 PM. 4. Each exhibit is to be the work of one exhibitor and may be completed at home or in the Show area. The exception being the Challenge Class which must be done on site.
Only committee members and exhibitors are allowed in the show area during entry times.
5. A list of all plant materials (common names) must be approved and initialed by the Classification Chairman before the Exhibitor leaves the Show area. 6. Some plant material must be used in every exhibit. The following are not permitted: artificial plant material, treated fresh plant material, menu food and cut fruits and vegetables. 7. Wild collected plants of species listed by the Massachusetts Natural Heritage Program may not be exhibited in Standard Flower Shows of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. or its member clubs. Cultivated plant material appearing on the list may be exhibited if the exhibitor provides a typed card noting that it has not been collected. 8. All components must be within the frame of reference. 9. The Standard System of Awards allows for the following awards in each class: one First Place (scoring 90 points or above, Blue Ribbon), one Second Place (scoring 85 points or above, Red Ribbon), one Third Place (scoring 80 points or above, Yellow Ribbon), and one or more Honorable Mention (scoring 75 points or above, White Ribbon). 10. The exhibitor must find a substitute if unable to fulfill this commitment. 11. Exhibitors are responsible for keeping their designs in good condition for the duration of the show.
12. The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. and The Topsfield Fair will endeavor to protect all exhibits but cannot be responsible for loss or damage to the Exhibitor's property.
Exhibit must be a blue ribbon winner, scoring 95 or more. All plant material used in eligible classes must be fresh. Decorative wood is never permitted. Page 46 HB

Table Artistry Award
Exhibit must be a blue ribbon winner scoring 95 or more. Exhibitor has complete freedom to choose plant materials and other components for this award within the National Garden Clubs, Inc. policies.

Pauline D. Bowden Award
The designs receiving National Garden Clubs, Inc. top awards on each entry day will be evaluated using the scale of points for the Pauline D. Bowden Award. The award, an English Teapot, will be retained by the designer for one year. A certificate will be presented with the award. All classes are eligible.
