In a version of Ambrose Bierce's The Man and the Snake, a man is terrified by a deadly snake in his bedroom.

The debut of Weird Worlds marked the beginning of a sci-fi trend at Eerie. This title and its sister title Strange Galaxy, launched in February of 1971 concentrated on sci-fi stories (albeit still pulled from pre-code sources). In addition, ALL of their titles would switch almost exclusively to sci-fi themed covers beginning in 1971. This was likely an attempt to cash in on the exploding interest in all things space following the 1969 moon landing. In any event, Eerie's sci-fi "era" didn't last long. By the end of the year, the two sci-fi titles, as well as the sci-fi covers, would be gone.

The source of the sci-fi covers is a puzzle, as the style is markedly different from Eerie's other covers. The cover of Strange Galaxy v1n8 was reprinted from the sci-fi pulp Fantastic (Stories) v19n2 (Ultimate Publishing Co, Feb 1970), but the artist is unknown. A series of posts on the Collectors Society message board indicates that some of the Eerie sci-fi covers may use art from the covers of old German Perry Rhodan sci-fi novels by artist Johnny Bruck, but this appears to be speculation based on the similarity of the art style and the fact that some of the creatures appearing on the Eerie sci-fi cover appear identical to figurines based on the German Perry Rhodan series..

The first of two new titles added by Eerie in 1979. Both were published under the Modern Day Periodicals banner but this was clearly the same company. While most of the stories in these issues were non vampire tales, Eerie does seem to have made some effort in the early issues to at least lead off with a vampire story or two. The launching of new titles might seem to signal the start of a new era at Eerie. Unfortunately, it doesn't, as both titles feature the same reprinted stories that Eerie had been running for years.

And with this issue, Eerie Publications comes to an end. The launching of this title would seem to indicate that Eerie's horror output was selling well despite the reprinted material, but three years later, Eerie's horror magazines are gone entirely. In point of fact, the entire horror magazine market (and the horror comic market in general) was collapsing. Industry leader Warren (which by now was publishing a mix of tepid serials like The Rook and original sci-fi and fantasy stories) would leave the market the following year. Fass' magazine empire would continue, but the comics were gone and, for decades, largely forgotten.
