  8. The Riddle of Manitou Rock (6p, Iger Shop)
Reprinted from Strange Fantasy #8 [Ajax, Oct 1953]
Terry Morgan digs for buried treasure near a rock said to be inhabited by the Manitou, an ancient Indian spirit.

Man-Beast is a deeply disturbing tale in which a man is held captive by a male baboon who seems (shudder) to have fallen in love with him (actually, the script says that the baboon just "befriended" him but the imagery disturbs nonetheless). The splash panel offers an example of one of Eerie's favorite methods of goring up a story - the addition of a hole in the cheek revealing the teeth underneath.

Dave O'Dell claims that Chic stone did the cover for this issue, but I find this questionable (see comment on Terror Tales v1n8).
