Introduction

The attached list is a compilation of all the species of plants (and wildlife) noted at the Deschenes woods on June 15, 2007. We found it to be an interesting wetland/forest ecosystem supporting a diversity of plant and animal life. It needs to be recognised that we were there for only a few hours and saw only one small part of the area, so the list should be considered a starting point only, and not a complete list by any means.
Shagbark Hickory (Carya ovata) and Gray Sedge (Carex grisea) are regionally

significant species.

Many of the twenty different species of birds (recorded casually while doing the plant survey) are likely nesting in this area, mid June being nesting season for most of our local species.
