Comments:

(1) There are some interesting features in the 'arcuata' type, e.g., indications of abortions in intermediates between 'vulgaris' s. str. and 'arcuata'. More studies are needed, however, before a taxon can be fully accepted. In the European parts, only 'arcuata' reaches the Arctic as stable and here it is stable as far north as Svalbard (Barentsburg). (Elven)

Comments:

(1) Acc. to Jonsell (1968), Rorippa was first used in a work consistently applying binary nomenclature by Besser (1822, Enum Pl.); Scopoli (1760) did not. Will not this influence the priority name of the genus? Has Rorippa been conserved? (Elven)

S Rorippa palustris auct., non (L.) Besser (1822).

T Iceland. Oeder (1768), Fl. Dan. 3, 7: t. 409 holotype.

Comments:

(1) Subsp. islandica reaches the Arctic in Iceland and Greenland, but not in Norway. Hultén & Fries (1986) also map some occurrences in the lower Jenisei area, the northernmost at Nikandrovskiy ostrov, 7010'N, well into the Arctic as we have defined it (zone D). These belong to subsp. dogadovae (specimen in HbO) and the two subspecies are therefore given separate entries. (Elven)

Comments:

(1) Three of Rollins' (1993) varieties are here included in this subspecies, partly according to the treatments of Jonsell. Hultén (1968) interpreted the 'fernaldiana' entity as hybridogenous, formed through introgression between R. 'islandica' [i.e., R. palustris subsp. palustris] and R. hispida [i.e., R. palustris subsp. hispida]. (Elven)
