Dear Student

ACER Netbook Computer Supply Agreement – Student Form

Please read this loan agreement form and sign below, indicating that you have read and understood the following terms and conditions.


BACKGROUND

The Power of 9 program requires a netbook computer compatible with the School’s network for mobility in learning. This agreement sets out the basis for a Year 9 Student to have an academic year’s loan of a School netbook, power supply and carry bag, and to use the School’s licensed educational software via the netbook.


AGREEMENT

We give you [the Student enrolled in Year 9 at The Hutchins School] the limited right of access through the supply of a netbook computer to your Parent/Guardian for the your use as the Student.


Ownership
As the School, we reserve the right to recall the netbook computer for any reason, including the upgrading of software and performance checks. Control and ownership of the netbook computer remains with the School, even though you have possession during the Power of 9 program. Nothing in this loan agreement constitutes a right to the transfer of ownership of the netbook computer from the School to the Student.
Maintenance, insurance and repair

You must ensure that the netbook computer is kept in good working order and appearance, and it is not defaced, damaged or lost. To assist you comply with these conditions:



  1. On request, we will arrange for any supplier’s warranty work on the netbook at no cost to you;

  2. You must not allow any maintenance or repair work be carried out on the netbook computer without our prior written consent.

  3. As we insure the netbook computer, if an insurance claim is not possible for example, where there is evidence of deliberate damage, you will have to meet reasonable costs in repairing or replacing the netbook computer.

  4. You must report to the School’s IT Department (Help Office, Foster Wing) if the netbook is lost, damaged or stolen.

  5. If the hardware or software appears faulty, you must return it to the School immediately.

  6. You must ensure that the licensed software loaded on the netbook is not copied, deleted or transferred.

  7. You must ensure that only software licensed and authorized by the School is loaded onto the netbook computer.

  8. The hardware casing of the netbook computer is not to be opened, and no additional hardware including memory, video card, sound card, network card, modem, disk drive is installed without consent.

  9. You must prevent a virus from entering the netbook computer by checking any usb/memory sticks before they are loaded.

  10. The School is not responsible for loss of any personal data on the netbook and it is your responsibility to back up all personal data on a regular basis.

  11. If the netbook computer is to be taken outside of Australia, you must first advise the School and show proof of supplementary insurance cover.

  12. The netbook computer will be regularly serviced by the IT Dept. The computer technicians, librarians and teaching staff will regularly check the netbook computer for appropriate use, acceptable content and licensed software, particularly in accordance with the School’s policies.

Everyday care

On a daily basis, you will bring the netbook to school and/or classes as directed by your teachers. In addition:



  1. You will take care to transport the netbook computer in the bag provided within your school bag, avoid placing drinks near it, being unduly rough with the keyboard or on closing the lid, or pressing keys rapidly for extended periods of time as in game playing.

  2. You will keep the netbook clean, take care to avoid scratching the screen and keep the casing free of stickers.

  3. When not using the netbook computer during the school day, you will secure it in your bag, or locker and not leave it unattended in change-rooms or other open spaces where it could be stolen.

  4. You will ensure that the netbook is charged, ready for use.

  5. You will store personal data, including music or other media and files in the specifically partitioned “D” hard drive in the readily identifiable folder titled ‘Personal’.

  6. You understand that any pirated or inappropriate content may result in the re-imaging of the netbook computer by the IT Department and disciplinary action.


Return of the netbook computer

You must return the netbook computer loan in good condition and working order to the IT

Department before leaving the School or the Year 9 program.
