John Olfield [Oldfield] is found in the 1749 census for Christiansted, living in Queen's Street with one capable slave and one child under 12 years old.1 Likewise, in 1752, he is living at number 26 Queen's Street, Christiansted.2

On 20 December 1766, on St. Thomas, he and his wife, Jane Dovnes, daughter of Simon Dovnes of Shrewsbury, England, made a will.3

He died before 16 May 1789.4
----------------------
Cathrina, was the slave of Mrs. Suhm, namely Maria de Malleville. Maria had been married to Christian Suhm, who died on 11 September 1759.5 It is not clear who had actually owned Cathrina, that is Maria de Malleville, or whether she acquired Cathrina in her marriage to Christian Suhm. In any case, in 1763, Cathrina, who was described as a mulatto, had a son, Fransva Reuil, by an unnamed Frenchman,6 presumably with the surname Reuil. Then in about 1767, Cathrina, now called a mustice, she had a daughter, Adriana Ofield.7
Child of Unknown Reuil and Cathrina:
1. i. Fransva Reuil, b. c1763
Child of possibly John Olfield and Cathrina:
2. i. Adriana Ofield, b. c1767, d. 1849
1. Fransva Reuil was baptized on 19th June 1763 in the Lutheran Church of St. Thomas.8
2. Adriana Ofield was born in about 1758 on St. Thomas.9 She was baptized on 28 April 1767 in the Lutheran Church of St. Thomas and listed as a castice, the daughter of Cathrina, a mustice, owned by Mrs. Suhm.10 The father is stated to be unknown.11 The possible fathers are, John Oldfield, who was resident on St. Thomas, who died before 16 May 1789,12 or maybe one of his sons.

From other evidence it is indicated that Adriana was born on St. Thomas, was said to be 45 years old in 1816, i.e. born c. 1771, and as of 1816, had been on St. Croix for 30 years, i.e. came in c1786.13 She was given her freedom certificate by Governor Ramsay on 31 January 1814.14 She was baptized in the Moravian Church, and lived by baking.15 She was listed as a mulatto.16 In 1816, she is indicated as living at [no. 7] East Street, Christiansted.17

She actually is listed for the first time among Johannes Rogiers house slaves in Christiansted in January 1780, as being under 12 years old.18 In 1781, she is stated as belonging to General War Commissioner Lucas van Beverhoudt.19 In November 1787, Adriana is listed as a Mustee, and full grown, and in a special note, it is explained by Johannes Rogiers, "Of the above listed slaves, though in our service, the following are my wife's [Elizabeth Suhm] mother's, former Mrs. widow Suhm, now Mrs. von Beverhoudt, and belong to her life inheritance, namely ... Mustee Adriana sub no. 3, ..."20

At about this time she had a relationship with William Spark.21

In the 24 November 1788, head tax list, Adriana is listed as full grown, and under those born during the year, "1. Anna Maria of Mustice Adriana." And in the note which Johannes Rogiers adds, he states "herewith it will please be noted that of the above named slaves the following belong my wife’s Mother Maria von Beverhoudt, formerly widow Suhm, namely Adriana Mustee and her daughter Anna Maria, ...22

On 4 November 1792, Adriana, born on St. Thomas, and belonging to Joh's. Rogier, joined the Fridensthal Moravian church from the Danish Church, and on 12 June 1794, was confirmed in the church.23

In 1808, Free colored list for Christiansted, she is listed as Adriana Opheel, along with [Anna] Maria Spark, and a boy Christian Opheel, living at 7 East Street.24

On 24 November 1813, she is given her freedom by William Rodgers, and the document is recorded in the Christiansted City Court records on the 30 November 1813.25 And as seen above, she is given her freedom certificate on 31 January 1814.26 She is listed as a baker.27

She is listed in the Free Colored of Christiansted in 1832.28

In October 1841, she was living with her daughter, Anna Maria Spark and a granddaughter at 7/8 East Street, Christiansted, unmarried and supported by her daughter.29

In October 1846, she was living with her daughter, Anna Maria Spark at 7 East Street, Christiansted.30

She died in 1849.[?-checked from 1847-1850 in Christiansted Gravedigger journals.]
