1997 - Professor degree of the technical sciences, title granted by the President of Poland

1990 - Associate Professor degree on Biomedical Engineering - granted by Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Science

1980 - Ph.D. degree - granted by Institute of System Research, Polish Academy of Science

1971 - Master of Science degree - granted by Warsaw Politechnic University, Precise Mechanics Faculty, Specialization Automatic Control.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE


Since 2004 - Director of Centre of Excelence “ARTOG” (Artificial and Hybrid Organs Supporting Metabolic Processes)

Since 1997 - Employed as a Professor in the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (I.B.B.E .)

1991 - 1992 Deputy Director of the I.B.B.E. for Research

Since 1993 - Lecturer on Bioengineering in the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow (Course of Artificial Organs)

Since 1991 - Head of 8 projects granted by Committee of Scientific Research, Poland

OTHER SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES - INTERNATIONAL


Since 2004 - Head of Eureka E.C. project on Differential ventilation of the lungs,

Since 1993 - Head of polish group in bilateral cooperation with CNR Institute of Biomedical Technology, Rome, Italy (now Institute of Clinical Physiology),

Since 1999 - Head of polish group in bilateral cooperation with Fatebenefratelli e Oftalmiatric Hospital, Milan, Italy.

In recent years organizer and co-organizer of the number of international Workshops, Seminars as well as co-chairmen of the scientific sessions of national and international conferences.


PUBLICATIONS

His current research interests concern support and substitution of lost function of the lungs and heart.

Author and co-author of 160 publications including: monographs, chapters, papers and conferences materials.

Coauthor of the 14 polish and international patents and several expert reports granted by Polish scientific institutions.


AWARDS

2000 Distinction of Polish Governmental Agency for Technology in Warsaw for realization of project entitled “Apparatus for non-invasive therapy of venous-lymphatic disorder” (collective prize) as Polish Future Product.

2000 National order of Polonia Restituta (Cavalier Cross) for scientific achievements,
FIELDS OF SPECIALIZATION:

Technical support for intensive care patients, modelling and simulation of mechanical assistance of respiratory and cardiovascular systems, cardiopulmonary interaction in health and disease.
