BUXTON HEATH WILDLIFE GROUP

The latest news from the heath! Issue 56 Dated 11.01.01

No 596 Sat. 11.12.99 Rained from arrival until 1500.
Colin Thompson, Dave Bevan, Phil Davison, Kevin Lewis, Debbie Jackson, Len Wise, Michelle Margot, & Colin Penny = 8.
We welcomed our friends from Antwerp University, Veronique Van Haesebroeck and her partner Guido Vittiglio. It was unfortunate that the weather was so awful. Our visitors joined us in the minibus for our first hot drink of the day. As usual, I took a fairly concise record of photographs of the work carried out by Veronique and Guido, but it was difficult with such persistent rain.
The pair installed updated software in the 2 data loggers, and I helped Guido to pump out water from the tubes. The other Group members cleared the southernmost path.
Len and Phil were presented with certificates and £5 book tokens as two of the recipients of "Heathling of the Year" awards. This was in recognition of them giving up their places a few weeks ago when more "new" people turned up at UEA than could be accommodated on the minibus.
