Orthoptera: Bog Bush-cricket Metrioptera brachyptera
Herptiles: Grass Snake Common Lizard Common Frog
Fishes: Three-spined Stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus
Crustacea: Freshwater Shrimp Gammarus pulex - near sluice.
Plant galls: Fen Bedstraw shoot gall, caused by Midge Geocrypta gallii
In flower: Marsh Gentian Gentiana pneumonanthe, Greater Bird's-foot Trefoil Lotus uliginosus, Fen Bedstraw Galium uligonosum, Tormentil Potentilla erecta, Western Gorse Ulex gallii, Purple Moor Grass Molinia caerulea, Tufted Vetch Vicia cracca, Cross-leaved Heath Erica tetralix, Bell Heather E. cinerea, Meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria, Square-stemmed St. John's-wort Hypericum tetrapterum, Ragged Robin Lychnis flos-cuculi, Lesser Spearwort Ranunculus flammula.
Not in flower: Marsh Fern Thelypteris palustris (thelypteroides)

Len Wise, Colin Thompson, Phil Davison, Nikki Lightfoot, Graham French, Kevin Lewis, Debbie Jackson, Christian Röttger, Helen Deavin (from near Reading), & Colin Penny = 10.
Len finished clearing the Western Track, Colin finished his "Bracken Hills to Valley Mire" path, and I cleared thick vegetation from some of the Marsh Gentian clumps. The others studied and logged species.
Birds: Jay Garrulus glandarius, Yellowhammer Emberiza citrinella, Snipe Gallinago gallinago - heath pools, Swallow Hirundo rustica - family perched on easterly "Root Mountain", Valley Mire, Turtle Dove Streptopelia turtur
Butterflies: Meadow Brown Maniola jurtine, Common Blue Polyommatus icarus, White Admiral Limenitis camilla - in woods north of western mire, Speckled Wood Pararge aegeria, Small Copper Lycaena phlaeas - in newly cleared area, north of stream, Peacock Inachis io, Green-veined White Artogeia napi, Gatekeeper Pyronia tithonus, Red Admiral Vanessa atalanta, Wall Lasiommata megera, Small Skipper Thymelicus flavus.

Odonata: Broad-bodied Chaser Libellula depressa, Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum, Brown Hawker Aeshna grandis, Large Red Damselfly Pyrrhosoma nymphula, Blue-tailed Damselfly Ischnura elegans.
Coleoptera: Soldier Beetle Cantheris livida, 2-spot Ladybird Adalia bipunctata - red spots on black, Yellow Longhorn Beetle Strangalia maculata
Hemiptera: Pond Skater Gerris lacustris - heath pools, Water Cricket Velia caprai - sluice, Green Leafhopper Cicadella viridis.
Diptera: Parasitic Fly Tachina grossa Parasitic Fly Sicus furrugineas - parasite of bumble bees - yellow head, brown eyes and mouthparts.
Mecoptera: Scorpion Fly Panorpa communis - female.
Crustacea: Freshwater Shrimp Gammarus pulex - near sluice
Mammals: Roe Deer Capreolus capreolus - near Western Track
Plant galls: Robin's Pincushion Gall on Dog Rose, caused by Gall Wasp Piplolepis rosae, Fen Bedstraw shoot gall, caused by Midge Geocrypta gallii
In flower: Western Gorse Ulex gallii, Ling Calluna vulgaris, Bell Heather Erica cinerea, Cross-leaved Heath E. tetralix, Marsh Gentian Gentiana pneumonanthe, Tormentil Potentilla erecta, Square-stemmed St John's-wort Hypericum tetrapterum, Common Milkwort Polygala vulgaris, Lesser Spearwort Ranunculus flammula, Ragged Robin Lychnis flos-cuculi, Greater Bird's-foot Trefoil Lotus uliginosus, Fen Bedstraw Galium uligonosum, Red Clover Trifolium pratense, Round-leaved Sundew Drosera rotundifolia, White Beak-sedge Rhynchospira alba, Common Cotton Grass Eriophorum angustifolium, Marsh Willowherb Epilobium palustre, Great Willowherb E. hirsutum, Water Mint Mentha aquatica, Eyebright Euphrasia officinalis agg. Hemp Agrimony Eupatorium cannabinum.
Not in flower: Grass of Parnassus Parnassia palustris - in bud, Marsh Pennywort Hydrocotyle vulgaris - large patches, west of spine in newly cleared area.
Herptiles: Grass Snake Natrix natrix - 12" specimen basking on Mervyn's northern stream bank. When disturbed, it swam across stream to southern bank, Common Frog Rana temporaria.
