After a triumphant eleven-year long 'Save Dreamland' campaign by the local community, a re-imagined Dreamland, Margate is set to open in 2015. 

The vision is to open Dreamland as a major UK visitor attraction, providing entertainment for everyone through truly re-inventing the seaside amusement park experience. 

HemingwayDesign led by Wayne Hemingway MBE, Gerardine Hemingway MBE and Jack Hemingway have been appointed to deliver the look, feel, smell, taste and sound of the visitor experience. 

The new Dreamland will be a totally unique vintage-style amusement park unlike anywhere in the UK, with a collection of rides that tell the story of amusement parks through the ages, classic side shows, eateries and evocative spaces set within a landscape capable of hosting national festivals and major events.


Job Title: Sponsorship and Partnerships Manager
Reports to: Marketing Director
Staff reports: None, occasional agencies as required
Salary: DOE
Job Purpose: To deliver incremental income to Dreamland
Dimensions: To develop corporate partnerships and deliver sponsorship income.


  • Work closely Dreamland’s senior management, operations, and events teams to develop a commercial partnership and sponsorship strategy for Dreamland prior to and after opening.

  • Responsibility for full implementation of strategy.

  • Identify a full spectrum of suitable target corporate partners for the Dreamland, from the supply of kind materials through to potential headline sponsors.

  • Develop cultivation strategies for those prospective partners and secure sponsorship deals in money and in kind across the entire Dreamland project.

  • Lead on and maximise all commercial relationships between partners and Dreamland to the greatest value for the whole.

  • Manage portfolio of commercial partners and ensuring the needs of both partners and Dreamland are met and that you have a robust understanding of the partner brands and businesses.

  • Ensuring that all Dreamland’s departments are engaged in the partnerships and provide the necessary support to deliver against Partner objectives, with constant communication and collaboration.

  • Leverage each partnership for maximum value for both partner and Dreamland.

  • Communicate the broader Dreamland vision and strategy to partners and update them on a regular basis about brand developments and business as a whole and the developments within it.

  • Assisting in the development of new revenue streams from partners and through new ideas and propositions.

  • To be on duty at partnership event days to co-ordinate partner rights and branding and to ensure that the other sponsors present are well serviced.

  • To ensure that the Dreamland’s brand and corporate identities are fully implemented and correctly used across all Partner activity including, but not limited to, advertising. 

  • To lead or support the Events team in delivering any Partner events.

  • Establish good working relationships with all internal stakeholders.

  • Motivate and sell in ideas by consulting widely and involving key contributors in partnership activity who often don’t have sponsorship / marketing backgrounds.

  • Produce and circulate monthly sales reports for senior management for inclusion into the monthly board paper and design and manage the annual budget to the approved level.



  • Degree level education or equivalent.

  • Gregarious and outgoing nature.

  • Tenacious and intuitive.

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing large level sponsorship strategies.

  • Experience of brokering and activating large level sponsorship deals

  • Well-developed corporate contacts in Kent.

  • Experience in key account management.

  • Experience in working in high profile, high-pressure commercial environment.

  • Proven experience in managing sponsorship agencies.

  • Proven experience of budget management.


  • Proven ability of generating incremental income for a visitor attraction or sell out ticketed events.

  • Knowledge of the East Kent corporate environment with an interest in investing in the leisure/culture/arts sectors.



  • Use of Microsoft Office at an 'advanced' level to produce reports (using Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to think strategically as well as manage a wide array of tactical activities.

  • Ability to pitch to partners and negotiate exciting, creative corporate deals.

  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal or written English,

  • Persuasive and diplomatic with highly developed judgment.

  • Organised, methodical and able to work to deadlines and targets.

  • Strong self-motivation and drive with demonstrable initiative.

  • Prepared to work outside of office hours when necessary.
