Species are ordered according to their rank as top food species in the diet of spider monkeys throughout Mesoamerica (González-Zamora et al. 2009). We calculated the IVI for each of the top food plant species based on the sum of density (trees/3000 m2), frequency (number of transects in which each species appeared/30 transects), and dominance (total basal area for each species in the 3000 m2).
