Family level revision of the Order Octopoda. Genera previously classified within the family Octopodidae, but not included in the current molecular analyses, have been placed within the new familial structure on the basis both of prior molecular studies [21, 25, 41, 53] and knowledge of morphological character states. Inclusion of genera does not necessarily imply validity.
