Dear resident

Pacific Highway upgrade Sapphire to Woolgoolga – opening of the Smiths Road bridge at Emerald Beach to traffic

Roads and Maritime Services has engaged Leighton Contractors and Fulton Hogan to design and construct the 25 kilometre Sapphire to Woolgoolga Pacific Highway upgrade.

On Wednesday 4 September 2013, weather permitting, the Smiths Road bridge at Emerald Beach will open to traffic and the existing temporary intersection at the junction of the Pacific Highway and Smiths Road will close.
A plan showing the changed traffic arrangements is enclosed.
A new intersection for the Pacific Highway and Smiths Road will be opened at the eastern end of the new Smiths Road bridge. This intersection will provide for all turning movements, as indicated in the attached plan.
Preparation work including blacking out of existing linemarking, new linemarking and moving of concrete barriers will take place out of hours between 6pm and 7am prior to the traffic switch to minimise traffic impacts.
Traffic management and electronic signs will be used to advise motorists of changed conditions. We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciate the patience of residents.
If you would like further information about the opening of the Smiths Road bridge or the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade project, please contact the community relations team on 1800 63 63 63 (toll-free).
Yours faithfully
