DIVISION - 1 - Horticulture

Plants need to be small/dwarf/ miniature varieties

Section A

Class 1: Flowering Annuals

Class 2: Flowering Perennials

Class 3: Ground Covers

Section B - bulbs

Class 4: Crocus

Class 5: Daffodils Narcissus (Amarylliadaceae)

Class 6: Tulips Tulipa (Liliaceae)

Class 7: any other

Section C

Class 8: Plants grown for foliage in container (no more than 3” base pot)

Class 9: Plants grown for flowers in container (no more than 3” base pot)

Class 10: Cactus in container (no more than 3” base pot)

Class 11: Succulent (no more than 3” base pot)

Section D

Class 12: Dish Gardens

Class 13: Terrariums (container is no larger than 5” base)

Class 14: Planters (container is no larger than 5” base) A group of plants grown in an indoor or

outdoor container.

Section E “HAPPY 100th Birthday to Our Indiana State Parks”

Designs staged in all white 12 section 5”H X 5” W X 5” D cubicles with open back
Class 15: “Rock Formations”: a miniature design no more than 5” in any direction incorporating a

rock or rocks Underlays, niches, backgrounds and accessories are permitted. Fresh and

and/or dried material permitted.

Class 16: “Water”: Our state parks feature ponds, lakes, rivers, & waterfalls. A miniature design no

more than 5” in any direction featuring water. Underlays, niches, backgrounds and

accessories are permitted. Fresh and/or dried material permitted.

Class 17: “Woodlands & Trees”: A miniature design no more than 5” in any direction using wood

and/or dried vines as part of the design. Underlays, niches, backgrounds and accessories

are permitted. Fresh and/or dried material permitted.

Section F “Celebrating The Garden Club of Indiana, Inc. 85th

Designs staged in all white 12 section 5”H X 5” W X 5” D cubicles with open back


Class 18: “Salute to the Indiana Flag” The GCI, INC. bicentennial approved project, is planting

gardens with blue/yellow/gold flowers. Members, private citizens, schools, businesses,

government entities are all encouraged to plant garden in these colors to help the

bicentennial. A miniature design no more than 5” in any direction incorporating fresh blue

& yellow / gold flowers. Underlays, niches, backgrounds and accessories are permitted.
Class 19: “Blue Star Memorial Markers” We Remember those who served our Country. In honor of

TGCI president, Jodi Meyer, her project of placing more Blue Star Markers throughout

Indiana. A miniature no more than 5” in any direction incorporating star(s) and using all fresh

material. Underlays, niches, backgroundds and accessories are permitted.
Class 20: “Scholarship Money Makes Dreams Come True” A miniature design emphasizing green. All

Fresh material. No more than 5” in any direction. Underlays, niches, backgrounds and

accessories are permitted.
DIVISION 3 – Special Exhibits

Section G- ARTISTIC CRAFTS - “Celebrating Indiana’s BI-CENTENNIAL (pre-

Class 21: “You Must Have a Hat for the Bicentennial”: a hat decorated with fresh and /or dried

material to be displayed on a hat rack


Class 22: “An Invitation to Wander Indiana”: There are so places, events one can do in Indiana.

Make a decorative card made with fresh and/or dried material to invite someone to visit

during the bicentennial.

Class 23: “My Indiana Memories” A scrapbook page showing of your favorite Indiana memories.

Should have some fresh and/or dried material incorporated

Section I - PHOTOGRAPHY “What’s a Party for If You Don’t Have a Special Guest”
Class 25:Frogs(s): in Honor of NGC, INC. president, Sandra Robinson emphasis on environmental

education -- a 4x6 or 5x7 picture of frog(s) that will be voted on by the public. The winning

photo entry will be awarded the book “The Frightened Frog” promoting environmental

education. Pictures will be numbered and mounted on a board on easel. Please mark the back

of your picture with your name, club, address, district. The district with the most photos entered

will also receive a copy of the book to use as they choose to.
