GENERAL OUTLINE AND SECONDARY SOURCE ASSIGNMENT

Background:

At this point, you should be finished reading both of your STP books and you should have turned in both sets of note cards. We are in the library this week to learn about how to find valuable secondary sources for the STP and to begin searching for secondary sources that connect to your thesis statement.

Please take careful notes on Ms. Segal’s presentations and ask questions. After each presentation, you will have time to search for secondary sources needed to complete the assignment due next Thursday. Before you begin your search, make sure you meet with me to ensure that your thesis statement has all the necessary parts.
STP Assignments due in the next two weeks:

1. Your Revised Thesis Statement and General Outline, worth 5% of your term grade, is due this Friday (10/30) by 2:30, whether or not you are in school. You should type this assignment, but you do not need to e-mail it to me. Please read the STP Guide (pages 12-14) and see me if you have any questions. You will be graded on your adherence to the outline format and on the quality of your thesis statement.

2. Secondary Source Assignment, worth 10% of your term grade, is due by 2:30 next Thursday (11/5), whether or not you are in school. Although the assignment is listed as note cards, we are going to approach it a little bit differently.
Requirements:

HONORS – 6 secondary sources AND secondary source quotes. Ideally, you will find 3 secondary sources for each primary source(novel) and one quote from each of the 6 sources you find. You should do your best to find a combination of print and internet sources.

What exactly is due as part of this Secondary Source Assignment?

*YOU DO NOT NEED TO EXPLAIN QUOTES FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT. YOU SIMPLY NEED TO LIST SOURCES AND QUOTES THAT CONNECT TO YOUR THESIS STATEMENT.
*To find out the exact format for Works Cited Page entries, please go to the WHS Library Home Page and click on “Citations.”
