1974–1988: Study of botany and biochemistry at the University of Vienna. Besides studies at the University of Agriculture (mainly crop cultivation, earth science and statistics)

Since February 1980 Full time job at the Institute of Botany, University of Vienna, for the Project Mapping the Flora of Austria and Flora of Austria

March 1986 – continued: Assistant professor.

1988: Ph.D. thesis – Geobotanical and ecological investigations on the indicator-value of waterplants and their communities in backwaters of the Danube near Vienna, at the University of Vienna, Austria under the supervision of Prof. Elsalore Kusel-Fetzmann
