20ª ACEA MARATONA DI ROMA: ALEX ZANARDI, KING OF ROME
Our Rome Marathon’s “emperor” Alex Zanardi, paralympic athlete, who holds two gold medals from the London 2012 Paralympic Games in the handcycling individual time trial and road race, as well as a silver medal in the mixed team relay, will line up at the starting line of the Rome Marathon for the fifth time next Sunday the 23th of March. Alex had his name written in the Rome Marathon’s golden book three times (2010, 2012 and 2013). Besides, in 2012, Alex broke the Rome Marathon’s record in a new official best time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 46 seconds. Should Zanardi win again, he will be the first athlete ever winning the Rome Marathon 4 times (today, only the Ethiopian athlete Firehiwot Dada won the Rome Marathon three times too, from 2009 to 2012.
